Are there any licensing issues with porting code from mono?

No there shouldn't be any. We're BSD licensed and Mono uses mostly X11, BSD and some other very liberal licenses. We have to look for specific library licenses there though.

The X11 license and the "New BSD" license are more or less equivalent. The "New BSD" license is sometimes referred to as the “Modified BSD”, "Revised BSD", or “3-clause BSD" license.

As long as you keep the license text intact in the source code, you can incorporate any X11 and almost any BSD license, with the exception of the "Original BSD" license, into MOSA.
